STARS Final Update !!

 Hi STARS,

It appears Mother Nature has decided it’s time for us to start thinking about beach chairs instead of ski chairs

As much as we’d all enjoy making a few more turns together, the snow conditions simply won’t allow us to run a safe and enjoyable clinic for our senior skiers and snowboarders.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of snow on the mountain, we will need to cancel our upcoming STARS clinic and luncheon. That also means we won’t be able to hold our end-of-season luncheon to celebrate a great season together.

Instead, here’s the plan: we will kick off next season in style by potentially holding our luncheon at our first STARS clinic on January 6, 2027. At that time, we’ll also give away the prizes that were planned for this season.

Thank you all for being part of another fun season. Even though the snow didn’t quite cooperate this season, the smiles, turns, and friendships made it a great year.

Thanks again for being such a wonderful group. Enjoy the warmer weather, stay active, and we look forward to seeing everyone next winter!

Keep shining, STARS!

Bill ❄️⛷️

THANK YOU STARS

 Hi STARS:

What a beautiful day we had at our 8th Clinic of the season! We welcomed 22 Seniors today, including a couple of brand-new members to the STARS family. (Welcome aboard—we promise the snow is softer than getting out of bed in the morning!)

After our group photo at 9:30 a.m., we hit the snow. What I saw all over the mountain were happy Seniors and smiling instructors. And when STARS are skiing safely and having fun, it makes teaching a whole lot easier—and keeps the instructors smiling too.

It was a beautiful blue-sky day, and while it warmed up to about 55 degrees by noon, the snow stayed just right for some great coaching from our terrific Senior STARS instructors.

📅 Save the Date – Next Week!
Our Senior STARS Luncheon will be Wednesday, March 18th, right after the clinic at the Bullwheel Grill starting at 12:00 pm.

This year we’re going with a Mexican theme 🌮. Lunch is $16 (credit card only) and includes a beverage. It’s our way of saying THANK YOU for being part of the STARS program for 17 wonderful years—and yes, there will be some fantastic prizes during the luncheon!

Please RSVP  by March 15, if you’ll be attending the luncheon on March 18th. Thanks!

Monday Update

 Good Morning STARS:

Here’s your Monday Morning Update for the STARS Program on Wednesday, March 11th at the West Resort.

Tickets and rentals open at 8:00 am, and the lifts will start spinning at 9:00 am (which gives everyone plenty of time to wake up, stretch a little, and remember where you put your gloves).

We currently have 12–24 inches of snow on the mountain, which should give us some very nice coverage for Wednesday. So bring your smile, your energy, and maybe a few extra “turns of wisdom” because it looks like we’re going to have another great day on the snow.

🌮 Senior STARS Luncheon – Wednesday, March 18th

Our Senior STARS Luncheon will be held Wednesday, March 18th at 12:00 pm at the Bullwheel Grill. Please RSVP as soon as possible.

This year’s theme is Mexican, so come hungry! The cost is $16, which includes lunch and a beverage (credit card only).

It’s a great way to celebrate 17 years of the STARS Program and say THANK YOU to all of you who make this program so special. And remember… we’ll be giving away some great prizes. Who knows — you might leave with more than just good memories and a full stomach.

If you missed the last clinic on 3/4 due to illness, a busy schedule, or simply because your couch put up a very convincing argument, please let me know by Monday afternoon if you plan to attend the 3/11 clinic. We need a little time to process your ticket and lesson, reshuffle groups and instructors, and make sure everyone ends up in the right place (and on the right skis).

Don’t forget to click the link below to pay for your lesson online:

Please purchase by Monday at midnight!

Ski you Wednesday,

Bill 😄

Reminder STARS Clinic 3/11/26

Hi STARS

Just a friendly reminder about our 8th Senior STARS Clinic on Wednesday, March 11th at the West Resort. Hard to believe we’re already this far into the season… time flies when you’re having fun (and occasionally trying to remember where you parked). ⛷️

🌮 Senior STARS Luncheon – Wednesday, March 18th

Our Senior STARS Luncheon will be held Wednesday, March 18th at 12:00 pm at the Bullwheel Grill.

If you missed the last clinic on 3/4 due to illness, a busy schedule, or simply because your couch was winning the battle that morning, please let me know by Monday morning if you plan to attend the 3/11 clinic as we need a little time to process your ticket and lesson, reshuffle groups and instructors, so if you’re planning to join us on the snow, give me a heads-up.

Remember… we can’t hold your spot forever—this isn’t a ski lift line from the 1970s! 😄⛷️

❄️ Mountain Conditions

We’ve been enjoying spring conditions this week. The snow is firm in the morning and softens nicely by noon, which is perfect for us seasoned snow athletes who like a little help from Mother Nature.

Thanks to some snowmaking this week, we now have 12–24 inches of coverage, so Wednesday should be another great day for our 8th clinic.

Thank You STARS

 Hi STARS 🌟

What a day for our 7th STARS Clinic of the season! We had 17 young-at-heart Seniors out carving up the corduroy with 12–23 inches of snow at Mountain High. Groomers so smooth you could’ve set your coffee on them (not recommended… but tempting!).

We also welcomed 2 NEW Seniors to the program. After a few quick words of wisdom (and maybe a few stories), we hit the snow. Spring conditions, blue skies, and 17 smiling faces — that’s what we call a successful day. Nobody went home disappointed… except maybe when the lifts stopped spinning.

🔧 Safety Reminder: Don’t forget to get those bindings checked each season. We want everyone upright, sliding forward, and enjoying many more STARS clinics.

 Evaluation – Glow & Grow:
Tell us one thing we’re doing well (the “Glow”) and one thing we can improve on (the “Grow”). We promise to read them — even without our reading glasses.

Monday Update

Hi STARS 🌟

Here’s your Monday Update for our 7th SENIOR PROGRAM STARS CLINIC this Wednesday, March 4th at the West Resort.

If you ordered snow… delivery complete! We received more than 3 FEET of fresh snow a few weeks ago, and the mountain is still looking beautiful with 25–37 inches of coverage. In other words, Wednesday is shaping up to be fantastic. Groomers, smiles, and maybe even a few “I meant to ski that line” moments.

📅 Mark Your Calendars! Our STARS Luncheon after our clinic is set for Wednesday, March 18th at the Bullwheel Grill at 12:00pm. The cost is $16 (credit card only — leave that cash in your ski jacket pocket). Come enjoy good food, great company, and the best part of all… absolutely no ski boots required.  Now that’s something worth celebrating! 🎉

New Seniors to our program:
You’ll pick up your rentals and lift ticket at the Main Ticket Window by the parking lot. Once you’ve secured your gear and ticket, hop on the Bullwheel Express (yes, the moving carpet — no poles required!) and ride up to the Ski School area at the Reservation Center outside the Bullwheel Restaurant.

I’ll be there for check-in from 8:15 am to 9:00 am. If you arrive early, that just gives you more time to tell stories about how much steeper the mountain used to be. 😄

About your groups:
Remember, ski and snowboard groups are flexible. Feeling like a speed demon? We can move you up. Want to take it a little slower and enjoy the scenery (and oxygen)? Just talk to your instructor or me. We’re here to make sure you have the BEST experience possible.

Important:
Please purchase your ticket by Monday night so you’re guaranteed a spot for Wednesday, March 4th. We don’t want anyone giving us the “But Bill…” speech in the morning!

To pre-purchase online:
https://shop.mthigh.com/senior-stars

Please Note:
If your clinic date was moved due to illness or other reasons, you’ll need to check in at the Main Ticket Windows at the base (next to Guest Services) Wednesday morning. They’ll print your STARS lift ticket and rental voucher (if needed) before you head up to meet me near the Bullwheel Restaurant.

Since your lesson package was moved, you will NOT receive a new QR code that morning — so please have your order number handy to keep things running smoother than our corduroy!

Ski ya Wednesday!

Reminder STARS Clinic-3/4/26

 Good Afternoon STARS 🌟

Just your friendly Friday reminder about our 7th STARS Clinic coming up Wednesday, March 4th at the West Resort!

We’re sitting pretty with 30–40 inches of snow, and conditions are excellent. It looks like we’ll be cruising on fresh corduroy — smooth enough to make us all feel like we meant to ski that well. 😄

Wednesday’s forecast is calling for temps in the low 50s, so dress in layers. It’s that magical time of year when you start the day zipped up like the Michelin Man and finish it wondering why you wore so much.

Important: Please purchase your ticket by Monday night. We were close to selling out last week, and we want to make sure you’re guaranteed a spot for Wednesday. Procrastination is not an official STARS training method!

Please Note:

If your clinic date was moved due to illness or other reasons, you’ll need to check in at the main ticket windows at the base of the mountain next to Guest Services on Wednesday morning. Thank You STARS

 Hi STARS 🌟

What can I say about today? It looked like the Senior STARS rented out Mountain High just for ourselves! Blue skies, little wind, and not a lift line in sight. I checked… we weren’t dreaming.

A fantastic 48 young-at-heart seniors joined us for our 6th clinic of the season. With a whopping 34–45 inches of snow, conditions are looking beautiful for our next STARS clinic on March 4th. In other words… the snow is deeper than some of our stories. 😉

Coverage is excellent with all runs open, so if you’ve been thinking about coming up before March 4th — this is your sign. The mountain is calling, and it knows your name.

We also had the privilege of welcoming 9 NEW seniors to the STARS program! The most common comment? “We can’t wait until next week!”
We love that enthusiasm… and we can’t wait to have all of you back either.

📅 Mark your calendars: Our STARS Luncheon is Wednesday, March 18th. Good food, great company, and no ski boots required.

And one more friendly nudge — please purchase your lesson by Monday night. Word on the chairlift is we may sell out this Wednesday!

Ski you later (while we still can),

Monday Update

 Hi STARS 🌟

Here’s your Monday update for our 6th SENIOR PROGRAM STARS Clinic this Wednesday, February 25th at the West Resort.

Now for the exciting part… we have a whopping 36–45 inches of snow! That’s not coverage — that’s a winter blanket tucked in nice and tight. The roads are clear with no restrictions, so no snow chains required — just your ski legs.

Wednesday’s Weather Report:
Mostly sunny, high near 52, light southwest wind around 5 mph.
In other words… sunshine, soft snow, and smiles. We ordered it specifically for seniors.

Please plan to arrive at the West Resort by 8:15 am so you can be ready and punctual for your lesson. We’ll gather at the Bullwheel Grill — our unofficial senior headquarters.

It’s shaping up to be another fantastic day for Clinic #6 of the season. Hard to believe we’re already there — time flies when you’re making perfect turns.

Grab your calendars (and maybe your reading glasses 😄) and circle March 18th for our Senior STARS Luncheon at 12:00 pm!

Yes, that’s right — a whole event where the only thing we’ll be carving is lunch. No lift tickets required, no moguls to conquer — just good food, great company, and plenty of stories that may or may not get slightly better with each telling.

More details coming soon… stay tuned!

Please remember to purchase your lesson and lift ticket by Monday night, as we may sell out by midnight. Don’t let someone younger sneak into your spot!

Tip of the Day:
Ski as if you’re wearing only your boots. This keeps you centered and balanced over your feet — and ready for every turn. (No, this does NOT mean showing up in just your boots. Let’s not start rumors.)

Thank you for your continued support — you are truly the heart of our STARS community.

Ski you Wednesday!

Reminder STARS Clinic-2/25/26

 Hi STARS 🌟

Just a friendly reminder about our SENIOR PROGRAM STARS 6th CLINIC on Wednesday, February 25th at 9:00 am at the WEST RESORT.

Well… what can I say about this week besides WOW? ❄️
Mountain High received a whopping 28–38 inches of fresh snow from three back-to-back storms. That’s not a dusting — that’s “where did my car go?” kind of snow!

For Wednesday, 2/25/26, we’re looking at cloudy skies with temps in the high 40s — so dress for cooler weather (yes, high 40s is still officially “brisk” in our world). With 3+ feet of new snow, conditions are shaping up to be absolutely spectacular. Coverage will be beyond excellent — we’re talking “mid-winter postcard perfect.”

Almost all runs are open, so if you get the itch (and can get up the hill safely), come enjoy this beautiful snow before our clinic. Consider it research. 😉

Friendly reminder: please purchase your lesson by Monday night. I have a feeling this one may sell out — powder has a funny way of motivating people!

To pre-purchase online, click here:
https://shop.mthigh.com/senior-stars

Important Reminder:
If you purchased a lesson for the canceled 2/11 or 2/18 clinics, please email me ASAP to move your lesson to another clinic day. I need a couple of days to perform my behind-the-scenes scheduling magic (which mostly involves coffee and spreadsheets).

Rest up, stretch those ski legs, and maybe practice a few powder turns in the living room… carefully. We want enthusiasm — not furniture damage.

Ski u later,
Bill 🎿

Monday Update

Hi STARS 🌟
Here’s your Monday update for our 5th SENIOR PROGRAM STARS clinic scheduled for Wednesday, February 18th at the West Resort.
Now for the exciting (and slightly dramatic) snow report…
We are looking at FANTASTIC snow coverage thanks to all this fresh powder. Unfortunately, it appears we did not dodge the incoming storm. In fact, the storm looked at us and said, “Oh yes we are here.”

Forecast for Wednesday:
❄️ 100% chance of heavy snow before 4pm
🌡 High near 35°
💨 Southwest winds 45–50 mph
🏔 Snow levels down to 3,000 feet

Translation: Great for snow globes… not so great for senior travel plans. Roads could be messy, visibility low, and while we all love adventure, we prefer the kind that ends with hot chocolate — not roadside stories.

Therefore, we are canceling Wednesday’s clinic to stay on the safe side.
The mountain will be there. So will we. And we’d like all of you there too — in one piece!

Important Reminder:
If you purchased a lesson for the canceled 2/11 or 2/18 clinics, please email me ASAP to move your lesson to another clinic day. I need a couple of days to perform my behind-the-scenes scheduling magic (which, as you know, requires coffee and concentration).
Thank you for your continued support. You truly are the brightest STARS on the mountain.

Ski you later! 🎿

Reminder STARS Clinic 2-18-26

 Hi STARS 🌟

It’s time for a friendly (and slightly energetic) reminder about our 5th SENIOR PROGRAM STARS Clinic this Wednesday, February 18th at 9:00 am at the West Resort!

Weather Report:
Cloudy skies, a chance of snow, and temperatures in the low 30s — which we officially call “refreshing.” With the NEW snow arriving Monday and Tuesday, coverage will be excellent. Yes… it’s going to look like real winter again. Break out those extra layers and those winning smiles!

I’ll share the best and most up-to-date weather conditions provided by Mt. High in Monday’s update.

Important Reminder:
If you purchased a lesson for last week’s (2/11) clinic that was canceled and haven’t emailed me yet to move your lesson to another clinic day, please do so ASAP. I need a couple of days to perform my behind-the-scenes scheduling magic.

Equipment Needs?
If you’re in need of gear this season, give Steve Crane a call at Sports LTD in Woodland Hills. Let him know you’re part of the STARS Program at Mountain High — that’s almost like flashing a VIP badge (but you still have to carry your own skis).

Call ahead and set up an appointment with Steve or Chris, and bring a copy of this email so they know you’re one of our shining STARS.

 Meeting Spot:
I’ll be at the Bullwheel Grill between 8:15 am and 8:45 am. Please arrive no later than 9:00 am so we can organize groups and make announcements. (In other words… save me from having to track you down on Chair 1.)

Important Update: STARS Clinic on February 11th Was Canceled

 Hi STARS,

Well… Mother Nature has decided to host her own clinic this week — and unfortunately, it’s a wet one.

Mountain High is sitting on 18–20 inches of snow, but with significant rain expected today (Wednesday), we’ve decided that asking our amazing senior athletes to ski or ride in soggy conditions isn’t the smartest move. As much as we love your enthusiasm, water skiing is not part of the STARS curriculum!

Your safety always comes first, so we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our February 11th clinic at West Resort.

If you’ve already purchased a lesson, no worries — we’ll happily reschedule you for another STARS clinic. Just send me an email with your preferred date, and we’ll take care of the rest.

The good news? There’s a chance we could receive 12+ inches of snow beginning Sunday night. Now THAT sounds more like it!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Looking forward to seeing you back on the slopes — in much more “senior-perfect” conditions.

Ski u later,
Bill

Monday Update

 Good Afternoon STARS,

Happy Monday! Here’s your official (and highly anticipated) update for our 4th STARS Clinic of the season, happening Wednesday, February 11th at the West Resort.
Good news right out of the gate: no parking pass needed—consider it our first win of the day.

Current Mountain Conditions:

·       Snow Depth: 18-20 inches

·       Road Conditions: Open with no restrictions—your car will be just fine

·       Weather Forecast: Cloudy skies, low-40s—perfect for skiing, riding, and not freezing your nose off

Important (but painless) Reminders:

·       Please remember your instructor from the last clinic—this helps us get grouped faster and spend more time sliding downhill instead of standing around chatting (we can chat later).

·       Check-in: 8:30–9:00 AM with me

·       New STARS: First-timers will need to sign a liability form and show ID—one-time deal for the season

·       Lift Tickets & Lessons: Must be purchased online by Monday at midnight (the internet sleeps, but the deadline does not):
Mountain High STARS Program
https://shop.mthigh.com/senior-stars

·       Equipment Rentals: Available at the Main Ticket Booth near the parking lot for $15

Bring your smile, your energy, and maybe that favorite pair of ski socks—because this Wednesday is shaping up to be another great day on the mountain.

Looking forward to skiing and riding with you all again soon!

Ski you soon,
Bill 🎿

Reminder STARS Clinic-2/11/26

 Hi STARS,

Just a friendly reminder about our SENIOR PROGRAM – STARS 4th CLINIC coming up Wednesday, February 11th at the WEST RESORT.

 Time:

·       Meet at the Bullwheel Grill between 8:15–9:00 AM

·       Please arrive no later than 9:15 AM so we can get you into your group and make announcements (snow waits for no one—even seniors 😉)

🌤 Weather & Snow Report:

·       Cloudy skies

·       Temps in the low 40s (jacket weather, not freezer weather)

·       18–20 inches of snow with excellent coverage
Bottom line: plenty of snow and plenty of fun!

🎿 Need Equipment?
If you need gear for the season, give Steve Crane a call at Sports LTD in Woodland Hills. Let him know you’re in the STARS Program at Mountain High and that I sent you—I know he’ll take great care of you.
Please bring a copy of this email and be sure to call ahead and make an appointment with Steve or Chris.

Sports LTD
22642 Ventura Blvd
Woodland Hills, CA 91364
📞 818-225-7669

📝 Important Reminder:
Please purchase your lesson by Monday night at midnight to guarantee your spot. Thanks to all the Seniors who have already signed up—you’re making this easy on me!

Tip of the Day – How to Become a More Advanced Skier:
Avoid too much extension at the beginning of the turn. If you’re too upright, you risk losing contact with the snow. Stay a bit lower and focus on smoothly moving from one foot to the other. (Think smooth… not pogo stick.)

Looking forward to another great day on the mountain.

Ski U Wednesday,

Bill
