Good Afternoon STARS!
Just a great day we had today at Mountain High for our 5th STARS clinic of the season. We had 27 Seniors come up and enjoyed the sunshine and corduroy snow. What a super morning to ski and ride!

As we always do at 9:00 am we continue to develop our learning partnership, (Instructor and Senior) as we have our continental breakfast. This is a very important part in the process of the learning process to connect the instructor and senior so when we hit the snow we have built a trust relationship together so we are safe, having fun, and then we can improve on your riding and skiing skills.

At exactly 9:30 am we took our group photo and then headed up the chair for our clinic.

It was sure great to get to know our 6 NEW Seniors today. Talking with all of them, it looked like they had a great time too.

This is just a reminder for our Seniors STARS Program Wednesday, February 1st at 9:00 am at the West Resort. Please purchase your lift ticket and your lesson before 9:00 am so you can enjoy your FREE Continental Breakfast while we go over the "Tip of the Day" in the Big Pines Lodge.

Just a reminder we have implemented a NEW online registration process. Attached you will find the registration form. You must fill it out and GO TO THE ANY WINDOW AT THE WEST RESORT to begin the process. Please let the ticket person know that you want the Express Pass for the STARS program. After you have shown your ID you will be given an Express Pass ($5.00 charge) to be used at the next clinics. After this initial set up at the ticket window you will be able to purchase your lesson, lift ticket and rentals from your own computer at home.

Just a fantastic day we had in the Senior STARS Program this morning! Sunshine and blue skies with a new 4-6 inches of snow from Monday's storm. Great conditions were just what everyone of the 30 Seniors that participated wanted today. A lot of smiles were on everyones faces and mine too. Good Evening STARS:

Just a reminder about our SENIOR PROGRAM STARS CLINIC this coming Wednesday, January 25th at 9:00 am. We will be at the WEST RESORT due to the closure of the East Resort during the week.

WHEN YOU PURCHASE YOUR TICKET, PLEASE GO TO ANY LINE AT THE WEST RESORT. THIS INCLUDES THE VIP WINDOW (11&12) Plan to get there a little early so you can purchase your ticket so you will be on time for your lesson. If you booked your lesson online just plan on meeting inside the lodge.

We will meet in the Big Pines Lodge at 9:00 am. We plan to hit the slopes at 9:30 am sharp!

The weather will be perfect with the high temperatures in the 50's and crystal clear blue skies. Tomorrow we should be receiving some NEW snow, yes NEW Snow! Last night we were able to make snow, so the coverage is excellent! We will have another bluebird day this WEDNESDAY! Please RSVP prior to our clinic.

Hi STARS:

What a beautiful day we had today! Blue sky, plenty of sunshine and great snow! 27 Seniors took part in our third clinic of the season. More than 60 per cent of you STARS purchase your lesson and lift ticket online. Sure is easier from the comfort of your home purchasing what you need instead of standing in line, isn't?

Don't forget to check out the retail store at West. There are a lot of nice jackets, helmets and gloves at reasonable prices. There isn't a Senior discount but if you have a season pass you receive 10% off non-sale retail items.

Looking for some NEW snow this weekend so conditions should improve. Next Wednesday we should have plenty of groomed runs and maybe some soft snow to ski and ride.

What a beautiful day we had on our second STARS clinic. There were 30 Senior STARS that participated in our clinic. Just a reminder Senior STARS that we have a Senior Clinic on Wednesday, January 11 at 9:00 am at the WEST RESORT!! Yes at the West Resort due to the closure of East all week. Don’t forget we will be inside at the Big Pines Lodge at 9:00 am. Just as I promised the snow conditions can’t get any better. We began to make snow last night and it looks like we will be making snow until Wednesday. So make sure you bring a smile on your face and remember what group you were in last week. This Wednesday should be a blast!!

For those who did not attend the Senior clinic last week attached you will find the registration form, which you will need to fill out and take to the VIP window at West with your ID. Senior Program STARS Begins Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Well it is time again to get our Senior Program STARS going for 2012!! We will begin the Senior Program on January 4, 2012 at the East Resort. Mother nature and our snowmakers have given us a great start on our ski and snowboard season. We have lots of snow to have a great time! So for 2012 we would like to officially "Welcome" you to the Mountain High Seniors Ski/Snowboard program (STARS).
We have implemented a NEW online registration process. This way you will never have to get in another line again to purchase your lesson or lift ticket.

But YOU MUST FIRST GO TO THE VIP WINDOW AT THE EAST RESORT to begin the process. After you have shown your ID you will be given an Express Pass ($5.00 charge) to be used at the next clinics. After this initial set up at the ticket window you will be able to purchase your lesson, lift ticket and rentals from your own computer at home. Welcome Back STARS!!

Welcome Back Senior STARS!!! WOW do we have a great Senior program for you this season. We have implemented an online purchase program for lessons, tickets and rentals for you to use at Mountain High. All you will have to do is go to the ticket window the first day you attend a clinic and show your ID. Yes an ID to make sure you have met the minimum age of 50.

You will receive an express pass with a number that you will use in the future to purchase your lesson, lift ticket and rentals if needed from the comfort of your own home. There will be a one-time fee of $5.00 for your express pass. Once this is completed I will receive an email that your have purchased a lesson and this will be your RSVP.

In a week or so I will outline very simple directions on how to use this online program. This program will be activated sometime during the last week of December. Please remember that you can only purchase the lessons, lift ticket and rentals for our Senior STARS Wednesday clinics.

If you have friends, and I know you have lots of them, and you want to bring them to our clinics, they will have to go to the ticket window first to register for the program. Then after the first clinic they can go through the process to receive their express pass and use it for future STARS clinics.

The snow is fantastic and all of your favorite instructors are eager to meet you again and get started to make you the BEST Senior Ski and Snowboard STARS!! All of them have been skiing and snowboarding to get in great shape for you. So make sure you are doing your exercises and have your skis and snowboard tuned and ready before January 4th. We will be at the EAST RESORT as there is plenty of snow to ski and ride. I promise this will be the BEST STARS program yet.

Welcome Back STARS!! Season is about to start and all of us here at Winter Sports School are looking forward for the Senior Program STARS in its 3rd year!! Get your equipment ready and I mean get your bindings checked and your edges sharpen and bases waxed as our NEW STARS Season will begin on January 4, 2012. Yes it is bout 9 weeks away.

STARS 3/30/11

Good Afternoon STARS:

What a day we had today! Beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures and the snow was soft but workable for all our Senior Ski and Snowboarders.
Our largest group ever of 44 Senior STARS came out for our last clinic and from all of the instructors and myself, everyone seemed to have a great time! As I was skiing around to the different groups; there was a lot of skiing and riding today, which means there has been a lot of improvement with YOU Seniors during the 13 weeks of the STARS clinics.

Not only did we have a fabulous time on the snow, but we finished it off with a fantastic luncheon! A lot of photos were taken out on the snow and during the luncheon, so don't forget to go to http://seniorprogramstars.blogspot.com/ to check them all out.

The Senior Program STARS has been lots of fun this season. We averaged about 27 Seniors each week and this was an increase of about 26% from last year. WOW!! Everyone should feel very proud of this accomplishment. You STARS are great ambassadors for Mountain High. Please keep up the good work and continue to get the word out for next season.

Don't forget your evaluation of our program. Thanks to the Seniors who have already sent their thoughts to me already.

Just an update for Wednesday, March 30th, our LAST Senior Program STARS clinic for the season.

When you come to purchase your lesson and ticket, please go to Window 2. You will see a sign that READS…RESERVED FOR SUPER SENIOR STARS. This window is just for YOU!!

Evaluation of our Program: All of you Senior STARS who have taken part in the STARS clinics can really help us out for next season to improve our program.

Please email two responses to me during this next week:

(1) What is one thing that we did very well?
(2) What did not go well or something that we can improve on?

Take a minute to think about it, and please email me your thoughts sometime this week. It was a great 3 months and we at the Winter Sports School (WSS) will be looking forward to the Senior Ski/Snowboard Program STARS next season.

This is just a reminder for our LAST Seniors Program STARS Clinic Wednesday, March 30th at 9:00 am at the West Resort.

Please purchase your ticket and your lesson by 8:15 AM as anytime after that it has taken 20-30 minutes due to the long lines at the ticket window. You will be on the snow at 9:30 am SHARP!!

We will be having a THANK YOU luncheon for YOU in the Big Pines Lodge after our clinic around 12:15 PM. We will be using the $5.00 voucher coupon for your lunch. I am going to ask each of you to RSVP for the lesson and lunch by Sunday morning March 27th so I can give an accurate lunch count to our Food and Beverage Department.

Good Morning STARS:

What a great day we had yesterday! 26 STARS participated in our 12 clinic of the season. With the 30- 40 inches of new snow we received this week, our Senior STARS and instructors had a super time. Last night we received additional 6-8 inches of snow and it looks like we will be receiving more snow during the next couple of days. So next Wednesday should be an epic day of skiing and riding. I am predicting too that we will have a "bluebird day" so you will not want to miss it.

I want to remind you that next weeks Senior clinic on Wednesday, March 30th will be our last Senior clinic for this 2010-2011 season. We will be having a "Thank You" luncheon for you after the clinic around 12:15 PM in the Big Pines Lodge and this will be at no cost to you. If you are a vegetarian, please email me and let me know so we can accommodate you too.

The Senior Program team of instructors have had a great time this season. With an increase of about 25% of Senior participants from last year, all of us would like to THANK each and everyone of you who participated in our STARS program. We truly believe that we have had another successful program this season.

I will be sending out after next week an evaluation email. Please answer the two questions and send it back to me ASAP. This way we will be able to have data to make 2011-2012 Senior Program STARS clinics even better.

Hi STARS:

What a day we had today! 35 Senior STARS participated in our second largest clinic of the season. We had beautiful blue skies and warm weather. Everyone was commenting about the soft snow we had but next Wednesday should prove to be a great day with chance of snow at Mt High on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Wednesday, March 23rd will be a great skiing and riding day for our Senior STARS.

Make sure you go to the Senior website http://seniorprogramstars.blogspot.com/ and vote for what the main entree will be for the Senior STARS luncheon on March 30th. Remember, March 30th STARS clinic will be our last clinic of the season. This has truly been a great Senior program this year as we have increased our Senior STARS up 24% from last year. You Seniors are to be credited for that because YOU are our BEST ambassadors for our program. Thanks again for making this a fantastic program. I know all of our Senior STARS instructors and myself are very proud how our second year as gone and we can't wait till next year to continue this program for YOU SENIORS!!

The tenth STARS clinic of the season was fabulous! 32 Senior STARS took part today under bright blue sunny skies! The weather could not be more perfect. The snow was soft but it did not stop our Seniors from having a great time. I am really looking forward to next Wednesday. The weather should be a little cooler which will keep our snow fresh.

We had some different conditons for Wednesday's clinic. Little wind, soft snow and a little drizzle at the top. But with all of the changes we saw on Wednesday, 29 STARS participated in our ninth STARS clinic of the season. We had 6 NEW Seniors participate this week and the feedback was very positive. Looks like we will have mild temperatures over the next 5-7 days, so next Wednesday, March 9th should be a great day for our Senior STARS Clinic!! See ya next Wednesday!!

WOW!!! What can I say but you SENIORS are the BEST!! 43 of you participated in our Senior STARS clinic today! This is the largest group we have had ever! Special thanks goes to each Senior that participated but also a BIG THANK YOU goes to each of the Instructors who inspired their groups. I guess I learned something today, and that was when it SNOWS Seniors will come to Mountain High. It takes a lot of people to make this program a success and without our Seniors, Instructors and support from our Management staff we could not provide an excellent product. THANK YOU!! NIne STARS braved the elements yesterday for a short while. They skied and rode till the mountain was closed due to high winds. Our Seniors were given a voucher to come back next week which was appreciated by all. Here are a few pictures from our STARS program yesterday. ENJOY!! A beautiful day today for our STARS clinic. We had 21 Seniors participate with almost perfect snow conditions. The snowblowers were active today for most of the morning, but so were our Senior STARS. We had a few NEW Seniors we added today and talking with them they indicated they had a great time. Looks like by next Wednesday we could have some fresh snow to ski and ride on as we are expecting a change in the weather pattern. Snow is just about 6 days away. IMPORTANT TRAVEL UPDATE- for WEDNESDAY, 2/9/11

Hi STARS:
I wanted to pass on to everyone that Wednesday from 7:00 am-3:30 am on Highwaqy 138 just off the 15 Freeway will be under construction. They have quoted that it might be a backup of traffic in the morning when you will be coming up to the STARS clinic. You can bypass 138 traffic by making a left turn just underneath the railroad trestle off of 138 and go up Lone Pine Canyon Road. This will bring you up the backway and just follow the road till you get into Wrightwood. Turn right on Sheep Creek and this will bring you to Highway 2. Turn left and you will be at the WEST RESORT IN 5 minutes. if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

What a beautiful day we had at our STARS clinic with temperature at 25 degrees and plenty of snow. Mountain High continued to make snow on most of the runs during our clinic but that did not stop our Senior STARS! All 18 had a great time and the NEW snow was well received by all. George Myers, Senior Certified Instructor, gave an indoor cinic on conditioning exercises and we were on the snow by 9:45. It was a great morning!

Just another beautiful day we had for our STARS clinic. 22 Senior STARS participated in today's lesson and the feedback was all positive. In fact, intsructors shared with me that it was one of the BEST clinics we have ever had. I would agree, today the snow was just super and everyone had a great time! Next week we should have some new snow as it will be the right temperature and the right humidity to make some new freshies. Blue sky and sunshine will be predicted for next Wednesday's clinic. What a beautiful day we had on our second STARS clinic. There were 18 Senior STARS that participated in our clinic. We started everything off with a little comparison between old ski terms and new ski terms by Ron Parody. Everyone had their breakfast and we got to know our NEW Senior STARS before we hit the chair. What a beautiful day to have for the "Kick Off" of our STARS Program. We had 32 of our seniors take part in the first clinic of the season. Senior Program STARS Begins Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Well it is time again to get our Senior Program STARS going for 2011!!
We will begin the Senior Program STARS Program on January 5, 2011 at
the East Resort. Mother nature has given us a great start on our ski
and snowboard season. We have lots of snow to have a great time! If

So for 2011 we would like to officially "Welcome" you to the Mountain
High Seniors Ski/Snowboard program (STARS). Senior skiers/snowboarders
are becoming a larger part of the ski industry’s landscape, and it is
our job as professionals to create a niche for you. Each senior skier/
snowboarder will leave with new skills, new confidence, new
acquaintances, and an appreciation of the Mountain High Ski Resort
which they can pass on to family and friends. PSIA Certified
Instructors teach our lessons under the supervision of the Mt. High
Winter Sports School.

Program Offerings: Every Wednesday at 9:00 am at Mountain High East
beginning on January 5, 2011 we will host our senior clinic. We will
begin in the Angeles Crest Cafe with a continental breakfast,
introductory comments, and a 2-hour clinic starting at 10:00 am.
Safety and fun is the key, with the morning being the best time to meet.

Please respond to this email if you will be making a reservation for
January 5th.

Just a reminder:

Cost: Lesson $20. Equipment rental $15 (New shaped skis), and under
age 70 lift ticket - $10 (free age 70 and over).

Our STARS program will begin on January 5, 2011. We just have not made the decision at what resort. Due to the lack of snow, East Resort is not open as yet. If it is not opened then we will hold our STARS clinic at the West Resort. More information will be coming to you via email in the next few days.

Hi STARS!!!

Well.... it's that time again that we need to get those skis/snowboards out of the garage or closet and get them tuned for this ski/snowboard season. Don't forget to get your equipment waxed and are ready for our first STARS clinic on January 5, 2011. Yes, it is just a month away! We are again having our Senior Program STARS at Mt High East Resort. We will be meeting at the Angeles Crest Cafe at 9:00 am on January 5th to have our continental breakfast and to get re-acquainted again and hit the slopes around 10:00 am.

All of the Senior Certified Instructors are ready to go and are looking forward in working with you during the 2011 season at the East Resort. If you have any senior friends or relatives that want to be a part of this program, please have them email me and I will include them in our STARS database. This way they will receive all the updated information as we get closer to the first clinic on January 5th.

WOW!! That's all I can say about today. Blue skies, plenty of sunshine and the snow was fantastic! We had 20 Seniors attend the final Senior Program STARS clinic today! After the clinic we had a fabulous lunch in the BullWheel.We shared about next season and bid farewell to a great Senior Ski/Snowboard Program for 2009-2010. Here are a few photos from today!

On Wednesday, April 7th will be our last day for the STARS Program for this season. After the clinic on Wednesday we will be having a luncheon provided by Food and Beverage in the Bullwheel Restaurant. This should be lots of fun and what a great way to salute all you Seniors who have taken part in our New Seniors Ski/Snowboard Program this season.

It was a cold day today, but our Seniors showed up and skied and snowboard their hearts out. By the end of the morning it started to snow. Snow was very good and all the Seniors and Instructors had a wonderful time. Next Wednesday, April 7th will be our last day. We will be having a luncheon in the Bullwheel Restaurant and all the information will be sent to you by email. Hope to see you all next Wednesday.

Today was another beautiful day with lots of sun and spring like conditions at the West Resort. Most of our 18 Senior STARS skied and rode the upper mountain today and the snow conditions were fantastic!! We are looking forward to three (3) more Wednesdays for our Senior Program at West. It was a beautiful day today! The wind was howling 25-30 mph so East Resort was on wind hold for two hours. The 25 STARS went to West Resort where each student was broken down into 6 ski groups based on how they turn their shaped skis. We also had 3 Senior snowboarders go out in lessons as well. It was chilly, but the groups had a super time. Thanks to all of our Senior STARS, you were all terrific!! Special THANKS goes to our Senior Certified Instructors, Bruce, George M., Larry, Ron, Cora, Kathy, George D.,and Heinz in making this day one of the best. Senior Program STARS FIRST DAY!! - 2/17

Out first Senior Program Clinic was a terrific success. We had 18 students take part in the 3 hour clinic. We began with each student filling out an intake sheet so we can get to know them and to understand how we can meet their needs. We had an indoor clinic on new shaped skis and boots and then we hit the slopes for two hours. Here are some photos from our morning.
